Traveling with a Baby? What to Know Before You Go.
Prepare for fun, safe and smooth travels this summer with your precious cargo in tow.
Summertime means soaking in the sunshine, water play, and vacation adventures. If this summer now includes diaper bags and sippy cups for the first time, you’ve got more to think about when planning your next getaway. Travel safety isn’t something to leave to chance, but, thankfully, you’re not the first to brave this seemingly impossible endeavor. Before you jet out or hit the road, be sure to check out these tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Here’s a few of their recommendations:
Travel by Airplane
To help prevent or decrease ear pain during take-off, encourage your child to nurse or drink from bottle/cup. Also, pack some snacks and toys for distractions while in the air.
International Travel
To reduce jet lag, adjust your child’s sleep schedule 2 to 3 days beforehand. Once you’ve arrived at your destination, spend some time with your child outside so they can adjust during daylight hours.
Travel by Car
Be sure to allot a break every couple hours to give yourselves and baby a chance to move around. Factor this into your planning as well.
